We have developed a 2 1⁄2 days symposium dedicated to a scientific and practice oriented discussion of current topics and controversies in treating the young adult with hip pain. The 2025 program will cover varying topics\, including hip arthroscopy\, femoro-acetabular impingement (FAI) / dysplasia\, hip resurfacing\, less invasive hip replacement surgery\, as well as expert panels to discuss controversies of out patient joint replacement\, dual mobility\, resurfacing and large ceramic heads. \nOverall Learning Objectives By the end of this program\, participants will be able to:  \n\nExplain Differential Diagnosis and essential imaging of the painful pre-arthritic hip\nDiscuss current indications and results of osteotomies about the hip\nFormulate a treatment algorithm for labral tears\nDiscuss the principles of hip arthroscopy\nExplain techniques of labral repair as well as capsular management\nExplain indications for new surgical approaches as well as their impact on rapid recovery programs\nExplain investigation of the painful metal on metal total hip\nRecognize the clinical indications for various implant designs for both primary and revision hip surgery.\n\nAccreditation This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada\, and approved by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development. Various demonstrations will be performed by the faculty\, including ultrasound sessions. The non-operative and rehab aspect of most of these conditions will be integrated into the discussion.
